Introducing Video of the Week from Wales Arts Review. We’ll be showcasing some of the best new art in Wales with a new video shared every week. From music to drama and everything in between, videos will not be limited by medium. Today we take a look at “Onjob” from Benji Wild.
This week, our video comes from Benji Wild, the hip-hop and grime artist from Cardiff, also known as the frontman of Astroid Boys. His latest music video, ‘Onjob’, highlights recent events surrounding the death of Mohamud Mohammed Hassan, the 24-year-old black man who died in January 2021 just hours after being held in police custody. Hassan’s death sparked the gathering of hundreds of protestors at the Cardiff Bay police station, as seen in the ‘Onjob’ music video below.
‘Onjob’ includes production credits for the late Stagga (Rob Stagg) who sadly passed away just before Christmas 2020. Speaking of his latest single, Benji told God Is In The TV:
“I’ve been sitting on this music for a while now but I’m optimistic that lockdown will end soon and I’m ready to get back on the road for my fans and deliver great music for them. ‘Onjob’ is just a snippet of what I have for them.”
‘Onjob’ premiered on 2nd February and has already racked up thousands of views and an outpouring of local and global support. Watch Benji Wild – ‘Onjob’. Produced by Stagga below.
